Treatment of Employees in Islam

Duty With Beauty

"It is WE who divide among them their livelihood in the life of this world, and We exalt some of them above others in rank, so that some of them may command work from the others.” (Quran 43:32)

The apparent disparity between the rich and the poor of the divinely ordained economic strata. The financial inequality between various members of society is to facilitate mutual coexistence and cohesion. It engenders interdependence within the human race and weaves the diverse segments of society into an organic whole. Nature in general is a system of uniformity’s and diversities. These contra-flows forge harmony and stability and closely interwine the human race into societies.

The poor are dependent on the rich for their bread, whilst the rich are dependent on the poor for their labour. The wealth of the rich is not to exploit the poverty of the poor, but rather to harness the potentialities of the skilled. This interdependence facilitates the smooth flow of life. This does not imply that Islam advocates two parallel social streams of the over nourished and the under nourished.

Labour and Capital need not be two hostile camps working against the interest of each other. They have to mutually supplement each other for the common good of prosperity. Some of the very simple, yet fundamental concepts of Islam are:

Brotherhood
The Prophet (PBUH)  said: (They are) Your brethren whom Allah has placed in your custody- Let him who has made custodian of his brother by Allah feed him out of what he clothes himself, and impose not on him work that will overcome him…” (Bukhari and Muslim)

Although this tradition primarily refers to the treatment of slaves, it nevertheless contains some very pertinent directives for employers:
  • Your employees are your human brothers.
  • Treat them with dignity and equality.
  • Do not create animosity by flouting your wealth in a manner that will stir feelings of jealousy and greed.

Minimum wage
The minimum wage should be high enough to meet the basic essentials and requirements of the worker. Anas (R.A.) who served the Prophet (PBUH) for a long time specifically states that “the Prophet (PBUH) never paid a low wage to any person. (Bukhari). One of the three persons that the Prophet (PBUH) will argue against on the Day of Judgement is a “man who engaged a labourer and enjoyed full benefit from him, yet did not pay him (his due) wages. (Bukhari)

Prompt Payment

The Prophet (PBUH)  said:

Pay the labourer his wage before his sweat dries.” (Ibn Majah)

Compassion
The worker should not be given a task beyond his physical capabilities.

The Holy Prophet (PBUH) stated: “…and do not impose upon him more than he can bear…” (Bukhari& Muslim)

Good Treatment
The Holy Prophet (PBUH) stated: Good treatment of those under you brings fortune, whilst bad treatment brings misfortune.” (Abu Dawud)

Umar (R.A.) the second Caliph, made it one of the duties of Government officials to look after the slaves (servants) and to visit them whenever they were sick.

Employment – A Trust

Employment is a trust that has to be discharged with absolute commitment. Punctuality and proficiency are the two basic requirements for the discharge of this trust. The Holy Quran refers to these qualities in the following words:

One of the two daughters (of Shoa’ib) said: “O’ my father, employ him; surely the best of men for you to employ are those who are strong and trustworthy.” (28:26)

Honesty
“A body nourished by ill gotten gain shall not enter paradise” (Baihaqi). Zaid bin Hussain says that I heard Imam Malik (R.A.) being asked about renunciation in the world. He replied “ Lawful earnings and curtailment of (ever increasing) desires.”

The Holy Quran states that : "Man is entitled to no more than what he works for…” (53:93).

Commitment
The Holy Prophet (SPBUH) said: “ When any man does any work, Allah wishes him to give it perfection and grace (i.e. the man is expected to do his work in the best possible way). (Muslim)

The beautiful Deen of Allah has regulated every facet of mans activity. Divine directives are both perfect and compatible to every age and era. Adherence to these directives will ensure peace and stability, whilst aversion to the same perpetuate strife, loss, and oppression.

Can frogs predict the earthquakes?

Allah almighty had supported these weak creatures with very sensitive prediction systems for earthquakes which are considered to be more advanced than any other human tool, it hears the emitted sounds from earth two days before the earthquake!!.....

On May 5th, 2008 many Chinese had noticed thousands of frogs on the move.

They were seen traveling without fear of traffic as they crossed streets in mass floods. The Chinese government told them that it was just a natural migration for the purpose of propagation. This calmed the people and no one took the omen very seriously.

But on Monday, 12th of May, at about 2:45pm, central China region recorded a 7.8 magnitude quake which occurred near Wenchuan County, Sichuan province that killed nearly 10,000 people.

Many civilian houses and roads were collapsed and damaged. In one Dujiangyan city middle school, 900 students and teachers were buried in the collapsed building, at least 50 were killed.

Chinese earthquake damaged many areas in china and killed thousands of people and let many hundreds thousands of homeless, indeed it is a warning from Allah not only for Chinese but for all people, also it is some kind of torture, God says:

"(And verily, We will make them taste of the near torment (i.e. the torment in the life of this world, i.e. disasters, calamities, etc.) prior to the supreme torment (in the Hereafter), in order that they may (repent and) return (i.e. accept Islam).)"[Quran 32: 21].

The quake was the largest the region has seen for over a generation. It was so strong, even countries like Thailand, Vietnam and Hong Kong felt the shake. Many people called the Chinese Earthquake Test Centers “useless”, as they were unable to even detect the earthquake before it happened. When they finally announced the earthquake had occurred, it was 12 minutes after the disaster, and 2 minutes after the US had announced a large earthquake in China.

As for the Frogs and their omen, Chinese scientists stated animals have much better sense than human on detecting the natural disasters like this.

"Although it's difficult to prove that toads "predicted" the quake, it's certainly not impossible. We know that animals sense pre-earthquake micro-tremors, and react to underground water movements, or even changes in the composition of the air. It's just that these theories haven't been scientifically proven yet" Says Pascal Bernard a researcher in a team of seismologists at the Jussieu University in Paris.

Allah almighty had supported these frogs by very sensitive detection systems as it can detect and measure low frequencies that human can't hear but it can be detected by animals like elephants, birds, whales and frogs. So, it can run away from the area two days before the earthquake. Glory to Allah!!!!

The believer shouldn't ignore such information, because he or she knows very well that Allah almighty didn't create anything for nothing as every thing in our world was created for a specific purpose but we may not know that purpose.

Today, scientists are studying this phenomenon to figure out the used technique by those small animals to enable us to discover an effective system to predict earthquakes.

Hence we have to realize that these animals are subjected for us by the divine power to be evidence on the extreme power of the creator and to let us to learn from those weak animal as a message for the man to not to be arrogant or transcendent. God says:

"(And has subjected to you all that is in the heavens and all that is in the earth; it is all as a favor and kindness from Him. Verily, in it are signs for a people who think deeply)"[Quran 45:13]

Shouldn't we deeply think in these signs and work hard to do good deeds may Allah protect us from His torture?

We have to invoke our God be He blessed and exalted. He says :

"(Invoke your Lord with humility and in secret. He likes not the aggressors.*and do not do mischief on the earth, after it has been set in order, and invoke Him with fear and hope. Surely, Allah's Mercy is (ever) near unto the good-doers.)"[Quran 7:56]

Royal Wedding & Poverty

I prefer to start this topic after this saying of the prophet Muhammad (pbuh)

Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet (PBUH) said -

"The worst food is that of a wedding banquet to which only the rich are invited while the poor are not invited. And he who refuses an invitation (to a banquet) disobeys Allah and His Messenger.

(Book- Sahih Bukhari)

It may be the stuff fairytales are made of — but Prince William and Kate Middleton's wedding comes with a hefty real-life price tag.

And amid the nation's joy, that has some Britons grumbling such lavishness is inappropriate for this age of austerity.

For thousands of the newly unemployed, the poor struggling from slashed public services, and students facing sharp rises in university fees, there's little to celebrate.

The famous wedding Kate & William is estimated to cost around more than USD 40 Million

Lets's look into more details of this wedding cost

WePay, (an online way to collect money from groups), has analyzed the upcoming royal wedding and says it will cost almost 3,000 times as much as an average U.S. wedding. In fact, says WePay, it will be the second most expensive wedding ever.

Some other royal vs. commoner wedding comparisons:

Kate's wedding dress is estimated to cost $41,000. The lacy piece of apparel for a U.S. bride averages $2,450. Costs
  • The royal wedding's flower bill is estimated to be $360,000; Westminster Abbey is big and Kate has a lot of attendants. The average U.S. marrying couple pays "just" around $1,230.
  • William and Kate are expected to spend around $655,000 on their honeymoon, although where the young British couple will canoodle is still secret. U.S. newlyweds spend on average $4,000 on their post-ceremony getaway.
  • Even more royal wedding costs are illustrated in WePay's Royal Wedding vs. Normal Weddings info graphic.
I was able to make this list via browsing the internet

"THE MOST EXPENSIVE WEDDINGS"

12-  Donald Trump and Melania Knauss - $ 1 million
11- Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes - Cost: $2 million
10- Elizabeth Hurley and Arun Nayar - Cost: $2.5 million
09- Paul McCartney and Heather Mills - Cost: $3 million
08- Liza Minelli and David Gest - Cost: $3.5 million
07- Delphine Arnault and Alessandro Vallarino Gancia - Cost: $7 million
06- Wayne Rooney and Colleen McLaughlin - Cost: Over $15 million
05- Vikram Chatwal and Priya Sachdev - Cost: $20 million
04- Aleksandra Kokotovic and Andrei Melnichenko - Cost: $30 million
03- Prince William and Kate - Cost $ 40 million
02- Vanisha Mittal and Amit Bhatia - Cost: $78 million
01- Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum and Princess Salama - Cost $ 100 million

Despite all the hoopla surrounding the vows of Kate and William, it's not the most expensive wedding in history, says WePay. That honor goes to the seven-day affair in 1981 when Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum of Dubai married Princess Salama. Its estimated cost was $100 million in today's dollars.

These are the most expensive weddings and the total cost of all of the above weddings passes more than $ 300 Million

Ok! Now lets move into reality of the world from dream world!

925 million hungry people in 2010  statistics :FAO

Hunger concepts and definitions

Hunger is a term which has three meanings (Oxford English Dictionary 1971)
  • the uneasy or painful sensation caused by want of food; craving appetite. Also the exhausted condition caused by want of food
  • the want or scarcity of food in a country
  • a strong desire or craving
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN? the above definition means "In round numbers there are 7 billion people in the world. Thus, with an estimated 925 million hungry people in the world, 13.1 percent, or almost 1 in 7 people are hungry."

According to UNICEF, 22,000 children die each day due to poverty. And they “die quietly in some of the poorest villages on earth, far removed from the scrutiny and the conscience of the world. Being meek and weak in life makes these dying multitudes even more invisible in death.”Source

"Spend your wealth for the cause of Allah. Do not, by your own doings, put yourself in harm’s way. Do the right thing. Of course, Allah loves the righteous." [Quran 2:195]

WHAT ARE WE DOING? Royal Wedding (Prince William & Kate) is spending $ 40 million for just 1500 guest to enjoy the party for less than one day -  i.e. more than $ 2600 per head while...

Half or more of the population in the 50 least developed countries listed above are estimated to live at or below the absolute poverty line of U.S. $1 per day.

THE UN CLASSIFIED 50 POOREST COUNTRIES

Afghanistan, Angola, Bangladesh, Benin, Bhutan, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cambodia, Cape Verde, Central African Republic, Chad, Comoros, Democratic Republic of Congo, Djibouti, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Gambia, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Haiti, Kiribati, Laos, Lesotho, Liberia, Madagascar, Malawi, Maldives, Mali, Mauritania, Mozambique, Myanmar, Nepal, Niger, Rwanda, Samoa, São Tomé and Príncipe, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Solomon Islands, Somalia, Sudan, East Timor, Togo, Tuvalu, Uganda, Tanzania, Vanuatu, Yemen, Zambia.

To illustrate the income inequality between rich and poor countries, consider these facts: the world's richest individuals have a combined income greater than that of the poorest 416 million; 982 million people out of the developing world's 4.8 billion people live on $1 per day, and another 2.5 billion (40% of the world's population) live on less than $2 per day. In addition, the poorest 40% of the world population accounted for 5% of global income in 2005, the richest 20% accounted for 75% of world income, and the richest 10% for 54%. (Human Development Report)

In the Video: Just one story to represent over 1.4 billion poor rural people who live on less than $1.25 a day. This is the story of Séraphine and her daughter Maria who live in rural Madagascar. They struggle daily to keep food on the table and believe that the only real future Maria can have is far away from home. Their story is unique yet ever so common in rural poor areas, according to the Rural Poverty Report 2011 prepared by the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD). It raises a critical question -- with the world's future food needs expected to increase by 70% by the year 2050 and with more and more people leaving rural areas to live in cities, who will be left to farm?

Gap Between Rich and Poor: World Income Inequality in - 2002

The poorest 40 percent of the world’s population accounts for 5 percent of global income. The richest 20 percent accounts for three-quarters of world income.

To understand how many inhabitants of a country are poor, it is not enough to know a country's per capita income. The number of poor people in a country and the average quality of life depend on how equally or unequally income is distributed across the population. In Brazil and Hungary, for example, per capita income levels are quite comparable, but the incidence of poverty in Brazil is much higher. In Hungary the richest 20% of the population receives about four times more income than the poorest 20%, whereas in Brazil the richest 20% receives 30 times more than the poorest 20%.

Are we concern of taking care of the poor and the oppressed?

There is no doubt, Humans are not fulfilling the obligation of their lord, we are enjoying  this life by wasting time & wealth for this short life!

"The life of this world is nothing more than play and pastime. The abode of the hereafter is certainly far better for the pious. Do you not understand?" [Quran 6:32]

Non-Muslims Quotes: Napoleon Bonaparte

Napoléon Bonaparte 15 August 1769 – 5 May 1821

"Moses has revealed the existence of God to his nation. Jesus Christ to the Roman world, Muhammad to the old continent...

"Arabia was idolatrous when, six centuries after Jesus, Muhammad introduced the worship of the God of Abraham, of Ishmael, of Moses, and Jesus. The Ariyans and some other sects had disturbed the tranquility of the east by agitating the question of the nature of the Father, the son, and the Holy Ghost. Muhammad declared that there was none but one God who had no father, no son and that the trinity imported the idea of idolatry...

"I hope the time is not far off when I shall be able to unite all the wise and educated men of all the countries and establish a uniform regime based on the principles of Qur'an which alone are true and which alone can lead men to happiness."

- Napoleon Bonaparte -

Picture Perfect : Ya Allah! Please Forgive Me

Shaddad ibn Aws narrated that the Prophet [صلى الله عليه وسلم] said; "the most superior request for forgiveness is to say:

Arabic pronunciation:

'Allaahmma anta rabbee laa elaaha illaa ant. Anta khalaqtanee wa ana 'abduka wa ana 'alaa 'ahdika wa wa'dika mastata't. A'oothu bika min sharri ma sana't. Aboo'u laka bi ni'matika alayya wa aboo'u laka bi thambee. Faghfir lee. Fa innahoo laa yaghfiruth-thunooba illaa ant.

English Meaning:

[O Allah, You are my Lord. There is no god besides You. You created me and I am Your servant, following your covenant and [my] promise to you as much as I can. I seek refuge in You from the evil that I have done. Before You I acknowledge Your blessings bestowed upon me and I confess my sins to You. So forgive me, for surely no one can forgive sins except You.

The Prophet [صلى الله عليه وسلم] then added, 'anyone who says this during the day, firmly believing in it, and dies before the evening; or says it in the evening, firmly believing in it, and dies before the following morning, will be among the people of paradise.' "

The List of DEAD GODS

Throughout the ages there have been anonymous claims of deities, Humans claim themselves to be gods!

Who is a human? A human is technically understood to survive with Food,Water, Air and other lively hoods, without these supportive life materials; a human cannot survive.

Who is "THE GOD"? according to Quran, God is been defined under these criteria in chapter 112

" Say: He is Allah, the One and Only!
   Allah, the Eternal, Absolute;
He begetteth not nor is He begotten.
And there is none like unto Him."

A simple four line definition is been given by God himself; and non in the universe can fit in this definition.

But yet there are humans beings who use to eat, drink and defecate; were worshiped as gods and some claim themselves to be gods and the funniest part is that these mortal gods gain some charmed followers in their magics.

Now lets move into some of mortal gods throughout  the history, i have categorized this article into three main sections

02-Modern day human gods
03-Human gods yet to die

Let's travel through the timeline of the human gods, we begin with...

Ancient human gods

01. The Pharaohs

3050 – 30 BC
Egyptian pharaohs were kings of Ancient Egypt, and were considered by their culture to be gods. Their titles equated them with aspects of the likes of the hawk god Horus, the vulture goddess Nekhbet and the cobra-goddess Wadjet. The Egyptians believed that when their Pharaoh had died, he would continue to lead them in the next life, which is why his burial was grand and completed to perfection, to please him in the next life and ensure his immortality to protect his people. See List of pharaohs.

I was impressed  with this email wrote to us by one of our regular visitors of KHILAFAT website, i decided to add his email here for the visitors's view.

The "Creator" is one and only one, so first of all the usage of the word "god" becomes inadmissible because, this word in itself is so so imperfect that it cannot and should be used to describe or address the creator who is "the most perfect". Imperfections abound this word, for example the word is dynamic and can be changed into goddess, and plural gods which is IMPOSSIBLE if the least because the "true" Creator is only ONE, there simply can't be more than one Creator. Now we come to the so called "god men", who say they are "god", first of all the definition of "Allah" (I use the arabic word Allah to address the True God because this word is unique just the way that the Creator should be), is omnipotent as is never born, never dies, unique, perfect, merciful, bountiful, sustainer, etc, etc, etc. SO HOW CAN "god" be born, whereas these "god men" are born, how can "god" get ill whereas "god men" do get ill, how can "god" have animalistic lowly feelings that humans do whereas god men do, how can "god" bleed whereas "god men" do!!!!??? IF IF IF Allah wanted to know what humans feel or what humans are going through why would he want to become one, Asthaghfirullahil-Aleem (I mean no blasphemy but just make a point) because He created us and would not the Creator know about the created!!!??? Would He not know every thing we have done, doing and going to do!!!??? IF He did not know these things He would not be Allah, Asthaghfirullahil-Aleem (I mean no blasphemy but just make a point). So there is no way, Allah would be born as a human, Asthaghfirullahil-Aleem (I mean no blasphemy but just make a point), and Jesus never said he was Allah, he always preached to the people to pray to Allah and not to him. When Jesus said "father" he did not mean the physical father but the "father" of creation as a whole, the one who creates is the father and the one who is created is the child!!! What Jesus meant by "father" was Allah and nothing else. A friend of my who is/was a follower of a recently deceased "god man" himself is telling me, "It is strange, I never thought "he" would just "DIE", I thought "he" would vanish into thin air or vaporise, but "he" died like a normal human being." DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA, thats because "he" and all those other dead "god men" and all those "god men" who are living at present and who will die and all those "god men" who are yet to "come" are mere mortals and nothing else.
